ABOUT US

Hello, I’m Dovydas Labutis, the founder of SENTeachCo.

​

I created SENTeachCo not just through professional experience, but from a deeply personal place. As a care leaver, I know what it feels like to grow up navigating systems that were not designed with your needs in mind. That experience gave me a profound understanding of the emotional, behavioural, and educational challenges that many young people face, especially those who are neurodivergent or have complex support needs.

My personal life has shaped my professional journey in many ways. Growing up alongside my older brother, who is autistic and requires a high level of support, gave me early insight into the challenges families face when trying to access the right help. Advocating for him and learning to understand behaviour as a form of communication continues to inspire and inform the work I do today.

I went on to complete a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of East London, followed by a master’s in Clinical Neurodevelopmental Sciences at King’s College London. I am now undertaking a second master’s in Applied Behaviour Analysis at Queen's University Belfast, to further develop my understanding of evidence-based strategies to improve outcomes for individuals with additional needs.

Over the past six years, I have worked closely with children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, special educational needs and disabilities, and neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and ADHD. My work has included leading classroom teams, developing behaviour support plans, and creating therapeutic learning environments. Every step of this work has been grounded in empathy, scientific evidence, and lived experience.

My research interests lie at the intersection of neurodevelopment and mental health. I am particularly focused on autism and ADHD, and how these conditions overlap with learning disabilities, emotional difficulties, and long-term wellbeing. I have a strong interest in emerging pharmacological treatments, including how novel medications such as tianeptine, and other agents that target the serotonin, dopamine, and glutamate systems such as psilocybin, ketamine, and atypical antidepressants, may improve quality of life when used alongside behavioural and educational interventions. I am especially interested in how these approaches can contribute to the growing field of precision medicine, tailoring treatments to individual neurobiological and behavioural profiles for more effective, personalised care.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy running, spending time with friends and family, and reading. I am always looking to learn new skills and explore new ideas. Whether through books, podcasts or hands-on projects, I believe in the value of lifelong learning and staying curious.

Through SENTeachCo, I offer practical, individualised support to families, schools, and organisations. My focus is on cutting through jargon and delivering strategies that genuinely make a difference in the lives of those I support.
